I am definitely ready to open tomorrow and so ready for audiences to live with us in this play, but I am feeling that tiny bit of sadness over leaving the rehearsal-womb behind. Oh, you guys, I love this entire experience so goddamn much. Welcome to a month’s-worth of my Things I Love Thursday list, which, let’s be honest, is mostly going to be a paean to A Hand of Talons, because that’s been most of my brainspace lately, so: like digging a pond and hoping for ducks (Translation=“a leap of logic hoping that doing the first step of a task will automatically lead to the desired end result, which was never a guarantee to begin with.”) there’s a guy who eats half the berries and says the pie shell’s too big (Translation=“here is a person who will ruin or change something and claim afterwards it wasn’t done right.” I don’t abide by these sorts of people.) don’t put down a salt lick and say you ain’t got cows (Translation=“don’t do something and then claim the result–which was obvious to everyone else–was unintended. They will take advantage of every situation they can.”) a louse will live on any head it lands on (Translation=“Be careful for users. Half-ass it and you end up with starved chickens and mediocre work.”) …it takes a bushel of corn to feed one chicken (Translation=“you have to put in the effort for everything you do. Translation=“this person ruins everything!”) that man really salts my melon! (while a combo of salty and sweet is generally pretty neat, this strikes me more as someone who butts in to add unwanted nonsense. I have a weird urge to give these meanings. like digging a pond and hoping for ducks there’s a guy who eats half the berries and says the pie shell’s too big don’t put down a salt lick and say you ain’t got cows a louse will live on any head it lands on you know what they say, it takes a bushel of corn to feed one chicken New hobby idea: using phrases that sound like down-home folksy expressions you learned from your grandma but are actually just nonsense you just made up
